Review of the Flying Troutmans by Miriam Toews

This is a beautiful novel about quirky but lovable characters. The novel starts out with Min mother of two having a psychotic breakdown. Then Hattie Min’s sister comes from Paris so that she can take care of Min’s kids while she is in the hospital. Hattie who is worried that her sister will never recover because of her constant mental health issues takes Mins two kids; the rebellious teenage Logan who is expelled almost as soon as she gets there, and the completely lovable little girl by the name of Thebes who has bright rainbow hair on a road trip to find their dad. Its a story of love, fear, hope and a good old fashioned road trip.
